Des hommes chez les sages-femmes : vers un effet de segmentation ?

Abstract : This article examines the models of analysis usualy applied to account for integration of men in feminized professions, starting from the case of the 160 men among midwives in France. Can a dynamics of segmentation can be observed? Since these men aren't working on a particular segment, we'll show the practices which lead to a satisfying incorporation. The article concludes that men are trying to rise above the question of gender by adopting the postures of an active minority of midwives, for example as far as professional autonomy is concerned.
