USE OF THE CALIX[4]ARENE PLATFORM TO ELABORATE NEW REDOX MOLECULAR SWITCHES

Abstract

Two different types of molecular switches based on new calix[4]arenes have been obtained. Concerning the [Dicyano-Diimidazole/Copper] complexes, the auto-reduction after few minutes of the oxidized state makes the system comparable to a time switch. On the other side, the [Diquino-Diimidazole/Copper] complex is a bi-stable reversible system. The gap of potential observed (0.9 V) between oxydation and reduction wave induces an hysteresis property and consequently makes this system a new performant two states molecular switch based on calix[4]arene. The [Diquino-Diimidazole/Copper] complex is a perfect model of a two states light switch
