Abstract: We compare the responses of different erbium-doped fibers under gamma-rays and UV laser exposures. Their behaviours in the near-infrared spectral domain which is usually studied for both the excitations probes and emissions were checked over a large range through in-situ absorption measurements. A micro-luminescence tool associated to a mapping spectroscopy technique was exploited to localize and identify the emitting centres.
