Abstract : In this paper, we present a novel method for generating a background model from a sequence of images with moving objects. Our approach is based on non-parametric statistics and robust mode estimation using quasi-continuous histograms (QCH) framework. The proposed method allows the generation of very clear backgrounds without blur effect, and is robust to noise and small variations. Experimental results from real sequences demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
