Quality of learning: Using a Semantic Web approach to enhance learner-control during Collaborative Remote Laboratories

Abstract

In this paper, we make Remote Laboratories (RL) meet socioconstructivism, a modern learning theory, to leverage new remote hands-on approaches. We find out why socioconstructivism implies the connection of several users at the same time in an RL, thereby bringing a new interactivity during RL: collaboration among learners. The context elements involved in such collaborative sessions are represented in a way that is understandable for both humans and machines. Those elements are described as collaborative policies which aim to cope with emulation episodes occurring during Collaborative Remote Laboratories (CRLs) and make the collaborative learning experience a promoting factor which matches the teacher's pedagogical objective.
