Can we streamline QoS in NGN: the half-filled glass.

Résumé

In this paper we try to bring a new approach of service delivery in Next Generation Networks (NGN). The key idea is to provide a model, which would offer one application version or another, depending on the Quality of Service (QoS) negotiated at the session establishment in a NGN. The stake of this research is a better-balanced usage of the network, for maximizing the service offered to the user given his/her network capacities. We provide the state of art and hints on how to lay the foundations of such approach. It encompasses the will to further implement the architecture in a NGN implementation such as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
