Optimisation des propriétés de transport de films respirants à base de poly(éther-b-amide) par ajout de polyéthylène glycols et cyclodextrines pour des applications liées à l’emballage alimentaire : relations structure-propriétés de fonction

Abstract : Numerous fresh products rapidly perishable such as fruits and vegetables have an elevated respiratory activity which is necessary to optimize once they are conditioned in a package in order to extend their shelf-life. This optimization may be achieved by the control of gaseous flows through the package, which currently remains a true challenge. Thus, actors of the sector are in search of new polymer packaging which present high and well-defined gas permeability levels, and that especially for both respiratory gas which are O2 and CO2. In this context, poly(ether-bloc-amide) (Pebax®) has been identified as a promising candidate for the intended application due to its breathable and CO2-philic character. In this work, CO2 and O2 transport properties of Pebax®-based films prepared by solvent casting method have sought to be improved via the incorporation of CO2-philic low molecular weight species belonging to the polyethylene glycol family and/or cage molecules of cyclodextrin type – additives both approved for contact with food. The effect of quantity and nature of these additives on the functional properties of film was investigated. A study of the film stability over time was also performed and a particular attention was paid on the potential migration of the incorporated additives. The detailed characterization of the developed materials permitted to establish in fine structure-properties relations for each studied systems.
